I just finished listening to the recent episode of the podcast and wanted to make a list of my GM Ethics, and what you can expect from me. Also, the kinds of things I would like to see from you guys as well.
-Yes, I do fudge. I do it when I think it makes a difference. If you dying screws with my story plan, you won't die if I can help it. If you killing a certain character will screw with my story plan, I will fudge that as well. Keep in mind though, it doesn't happen much. I really enjoy randomness in a game and am totally up for rolling with the punches.
-I like feedback. I am not a GM who is going to get mad at you if you tell me that there is something in the game you don't like. I want feedback, good and bad. Nothing annoys me more than asking for feedback and getting a grunted "was good" and nothing more. That tells me nothing. I can't make the game better unless I get feedback.
-I like to play fast and loose so sometimes I will forget that I have notes and run by the seat of my pants so I may use wrong names or forget a rule, or something similar. I don't mind you pointing out the mistake. But leave it there. Being pedantic and then arguing about it isn't making the game any more fun.
-I try to balance a game as much as I can between rp and combat, but I am willing to change based on what the group prefers. Want more political intrigue? Ok, I can go there. Want more "beat it with a stick"? No problem. Just let me know.
-I expect some interaction and some input outside of game time. If that means once a week you post to me about what your character is thinking, that's fine. What I don't want to see is no posts at all or a weekly post that says "I'm just watching people." Interaction is key.
-Don't be a dick.
I think that's about all. If you have anything for me please let me know.
